ALL-STATE 2013 – AUDITION PROCESS

All-State Auditions will be held on Sunday January 20, 2013 at Gresham High School and we will continue with a similar one-day format as last year. This year, we will post the Technical Across-theFloor routine online for dancers to learn BEFORE auditions. All-State will start with a short warm-up and go directly into the Technique Auditions, so dancers need to come ready to audition for the judges. After the first round of auditions, the judges will make cuts, and call back the finalists to learn the All-State Audition Routine. The AllState Routine will be similar to last year – it will more advanced than previous years and consist of three distinct styles: Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. After learning the All-State Routine, finalists will audition the All-State Routine for the judges.

DROP-IN DANCE CLASSES

Dancers that do not make the technique cuts will be invited to "Drop-In" dance classes that will be held at the same time the AllState Routine is being taught. Seniors that do not wish to audition for All-State, but wish to participate in the Drop-In dance classes, are welcome to register and join us for the day! Please keep in mind that the Technical Across-the-Floor sequence will be at the intermediate to advanced level. If a dancer does not possess the required technical skills to be successful in the Technique Auditions, then we encourage them to skip the auditions and register for the Drop-In classes only. If enough dancers register to attend All-State solely for the drop-in classes, then we will also offer an additional drop-in class during the technique auditions.

AUDITION CALL-BACKS

After all dancers have finished being judged in their classification (1A-4A, 5A, 6A), there will be a review/call-back in which the dancers will perform the All-State routine in their group for the judges one last time. Likewise, dancers auditioning for All-State will need to stay until the end of the evening, no matter what time they audition.
